📍 Dr. Tilahun Deresse Tamene, MD, MMed, MPH, FACS is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Africa Health Sciences University (AHSU), a general surgeon, academician, and researcher with extensive experience in surgical care, medical education, and academic leadership. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Surgery at Kibungo Level Two Teaching Hospital and the Postgraduate Coordinator of the AHSU Surgery Program at the Kibungo site, where he plays a key role in surgical service delivery, residency training, mentorship, and program coordination. Dr. Tilahun holds a Doctor of Medicine degree, a Specialty Certificate in General Surgery, and a Master of Public Health in Health Service Management. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). His professional and academic interests include surgical education, health systems strengthening, emergency and trauma care, and implementation research. As a member of the AHSU Research and Grant Committee, he contributes to promoting research excellence, strengthening grant development, and advancing scholarly collaboration within the university.
