📍 Dr. Valens Nkubito Gatera is a Senior Obstetrician Gynecologist with subspecialty training in Fetal Medicine from the prestigious Harris Birthright Centre for Fetal Medicine at King’s College Hospital, United Kingdom. He is currently based at King Faisal Hospital Rwanda, where he serves as Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, He holds the academic position of Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at African Health Sciences University, where He leads the department and contributes to the training and mentorship of future specialists. With over 15 years of clinical experience, Dr. Gatera has a strong professional interest in medical education, research, prenatal diagnosis, and the management and prevention of high risk pregnancies. He is recognized as a pioneer of Fetal Medicine in Rwanda and has contributed to the development of curricula for several health training programs, including the Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) subspecialty program at the University of Rwanda. He is also a committed advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Dr. Gatera currently serves as First Vice President of the Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also a Founding Faculty Member of the East, Central and Southern Africa College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (ECSACOG), where he contributes to strengthening postgraduate training and advancing standards in obstetrics and gynecology across the region.
